Integrated Energy Supply (IES)
IES is a combined heat and power (CHP) or large-scale heat generation facility equipped with co-generation equipment or pollution-prevention facilities and supplies generated energy (heat or heat/electricity) to multiple users.
Benefits of IES
- Energy Conservation: co-generation system reduces 20-30% of energy consumption by improving energy utilization efficiency
- Air pollutant (SOx, NOx, dust) and CO2 emissions reduction: the environment will be improved by reducing fuel and installing anti-pollution facilities.

Current Status of IES in Korea

  1. AS of the end of 2011, 23 district hearting businesses provided heating services to 2.07 million households in 42 districts, representing approximately 13.7% of total households. Also, 25 companies supplied heat and power to 26 industrial complexes.
